China Glaze Capitol Colours: Harvest Moon and Electrify

Hello Babes! Its been a looooong while and I truly am sorry about that, but A LOT has been going on and I just need to take care of things that are going on in my life. I do miss all of you and blogging dearly though. Tons of swaps and hauls to swatch and share with you, and also a lot that I swatched but have yet to edit and post. With Picnik closing and my refusing to spend buckets on PS, I had to reach out for help on Twitter and I finally found good (so far) new home to edit my pictures. Hopefully this month I can get back to my old routine and schedule posts daily. I noticed that I've had a few swatches sitting in my drafts, I know bad bad me. What I have to share with you today is 2 colors from China Glaze Capitol Colors Collection.

Harvest Moon: Crystallized Copper Shimmer. Is a copper foil with a rainbow assortment of micro glitter. Initially I really thought I would really dislike this color and I generally steer clear of shades like this because they wash me out BUT I LOVE IT! The formula was amazing and it reached full opacity in 2 thin coats. Dry time was average, nothing to write home about. No top coat used for this swatch.

Electrify: High-wattage gold and ruby red glitter blend. Not much to really add to that description because its spot on. Formula was actually not bad for this to be such a jammed packed glitter. I applied 2 thin coats over Harvest Moon to get this look. I think at 3 coats it would have reached opacity on its own. This baby is a top coat eater so your going to need to double up. I'm not particularly crazy about this polish, because I feel like it belongs in the holiday season maybe?... I know that's when I will most likely bring it out again to use for nail art.

I know you've already seen so many swatches of this collection that you could cry, but I didn't get to share mine yet. What do you thing of Harvest Moon and Electrify? I really like the first but the second is meh. Thanks for stopping by to see what I have to share.

Revlon Whimsical

Good Morning Babes! Today I have a longtime lemming of mine to share with you, well kind of lol. I've wanted GITA for a while now, and if you follow me on Twitter you've seen me mention it from time to time. I just couldn't bring myself to pay almost $20 (well more actually when you calculate in shipping) for a single lacquer when so many great collections have been coming out and I payed that much for the China Glaze and Color Club holiday collections among others. Thank goodness for Revlon and their dupe spree they've been on this year. They've been on a mission slaying these DL's and this time I reap the benefits. Whimsical is an exact dupe for Glitter in the Air by Deborah Lippmann, and my friend Mandy from MandysSecrets (don't sleep on her blog, its amazing) sent it to me as a Christmas gift! Whimsical will never be opaque, so its best when layered. I originally wanted to layer it over Bikini Bottom by Rescue Beauty Lounge because its the exact same color as the base, but those bad boys are the same price as DL, so I will pass on that lol. So I went hunting and found Sea Spray by China Glaze, and have been holding onto it for months until the day where I could splurge on GITA. So thanks to Mandy my lemming has more than been cured! Sea Spray is a light blue toned grey with a gorgeous subtle silver micro shimmer. I love this color so much and can't believe I'm just now swatching it. The formula on this baby is amazing and fully opaque in 1 coat! Can you believe that? A light color with a 1 coat formula! Then I layered 1 coat of Whimsical over SS and I'm in love. I had to persuade the glitter to come out and play but besides that application was no problem. Next time I will add another coat for more glitter but for now I am loving it just like this. Onto the yumminess...

Are you in love? I know I am! My 2 favorite colors in 1 lacquer is love at first sight for me! The fact that its amazing is just the cherry on top! I will swatch Sea Spray on its own and share it on another day, because its just to gorg to not revisit and play with. Ahhh Whimsical is finally mine! Thanks Mandy Girl! Thanks for stopping by to see what I have going on today at P.P.A. :o)

12 Days of Christmas: Candy Cane Nails

Good Morning Babes! Today is day 4 of the 12 Days of Christmas challenge. Candy Cane Nails is what we have going on today. I chose blue candy canes because those are the yummiest ones to me. My base is Bettina Vintage Jean, stamped with Blue Years Eve by China Glaze, Passion Purple by Dr's Remedy, BM ip 207, and SV at my tc. I chose this ip because the stripes aren't small like traditional candy canes, so I wanted to switch it up a little bit. Its came out as a fail because I didn't line up the stamp properly but I just didn't have enough to to completely redo the mani, so hopefully you see what I was trying to achieve. I'm still really under the weather, so please excuse this mani.
My Challenge Mates:
Carolina - Colores de Carol
Marta - Chit Chat Nails

Here's an idea of how I intended to stamp across my nail so that it would look more like the stripes on the candy cane.

Do you like my blue candy canes? The blue isn't exact but its the closes I could get. Have you checked out Tera, Marta and Carolina Candy Cane mani's yet? Thanks for stopping by to let me share with you. See you tomorrow for Wrapping Paper Nails.

12 Days of Christmas: Green Nails

Good Morning Babes! Day 3 of the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge is Green Nails. I went with 2 coats of Holly Day by China Glaze. The formula on HD is really good. I originally opted not to get this one when I was looking at the Let It Snow Collection, but ended up going back and getting it because I don't have any "Christmas tree green" colors in my stash.

My Challenge Mates:
Carolina - Colores de Carol
Marta - Chit Chat Nails

How are you liking Holly Day? Its just a basic green green type of green that's perfect for the holiday season. Don't forget to stop by and check on my loves Tera, Marta and Carolina, and follow their blogs if you aren't already a follower. Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow for Candy Cane Nails!

China Glaze It's Alive!

Good Morning Babes! It's Alive is one the polishes from China Glazes 2011 Halloween Collection, the star of the collection in my opinion. The base is a sheer shimmery muddy grass green with small and big green glitter in it. To reach opacity I needed 2 coats and the formula was no problem at all for it to be so jammed packed with glitter. I would recommend a little wait in between coats to prevent dragging, and 2 coats of SV (or a thick top coat) because it dries gritty and rough (I used 1 for the swatches but should have used 2 because it was still a little gritty).

What do you think of It's Alive? I know its been swatched by everyone but I've had it for a while and had to do it before Halloween. I Love It :)  Thanks for stopping by!

Pink Wednesday!

For today's Pink Wednesday I'm doing a China Glaze edition. I have 3 pink China Glaze polishes and 1 crackle (I should have 5 but I will get into that at another time), so I'm going to knock out the 3 solids with 1 post as I have over 100 polishes to swatch through before I can add to my collection. What I'm showing you today is Sprinkles, Strawberry Fields, and Don't Touch My Tiara. Strawberry Fields I bought for obvious reasons - Its gotten rave reviews and I loved the unique color blend, Sprinkles I hadn't actually viewed a swatch before I purchased it but it was just so pretty that I couldn't resist (you will see why), Don't Touch My Tiara because it has a beautiful shimmery metallic look with a hint of pearl to it, and Broken Hearted because I was disappointed in OPI's Pink Shatter, I wanted it to be REALLY pink and it wasn't so I bought the Crackle (you will see this one on another day). Now onto the swatches...

Sprinkles - I LOVE this color! I think its absolutely FAB! This is officially my new favorite pink glitter until I can find something to top it! Its a medium pink polish with hot pink glitter. There's enough glitter for the glitter to be noticeable but not so much to where it would be inappropriate to where it to certain places like work. I used 3 thin coats to reach my desired opacity. Very easy to paint with, perfect formula, and good dry time. I used Seche as a top coat. I fell in love with the sprinkles, they really do look like sprinkles! The best part is that it translates onto the nail just as you see it in the bottle. I didn't want to take it off :(

With flash so you can see the gold micro shimmer.

Strawberry Fields - Well this polish speaks for itself because its so popular, and every blogger has blogged about it. Hot pink polish with gold micro shimmer. The formula is a little on the thick side but in a good way. Two easy coats and dry time was ok, I used Seche on this one as well.

Don't Touch My Tiara - A dark pink polish that looks like it could be a metallic or chrome polish in the bottle but it definitely is not. It has a sort of pearl  like flow to it that makes it really pretty in my opinion. The formula was thin but evened out perfectly and opaque at 2 coats. I used Seche as a top coat which drug the polish a little on my index finger (which you can see in the pictures), so I put that down immediately and grabbed INM Out the Door.

Which one is your favorite? I love Sprinkles and I can't wait until next summer to wear it a lot, hey I might be seen wearing it a few times this fall lol!

My first Pink Wednesday! China Glaze Purple Panic

A day dedicated to my favorite... PINK. For my first Pink Wednesday I wanted to do something very bright. I know what your thinking, "Purple" Panic is NOT pink but it so is! I didn't look at the name when I grabbed the bottle off the display at ULTA, I just thought it was a pretty hot pink. When I finally got around to trying it I looked at the name and thought maybe it was mislabeled. The color is also a neon, which I have never bought. I also had no idea that neon's dry matte! Here goes:

I can't begin to explain to you how hard it is to capture the true color of this polish. I tried indoor and outdoor. This is the best out of 20 pictures I took. The brush holds A LOT of polish, so you will have to be careful about that. This could have been a 1 coater if the first coat didn't have such bad streaks. This is 2 coats (I messed up on the middle finger) which turned out good, but it needs a patient hand to paint with. I didn't have that, so I will try this again at a later date.

I didn't care for the matte this time around, maybe next time when I really take my time. I applied 1 coat of Seche Vite and OMG this color is cray cray! I LOVED IT! I really wish that the true color would have shown because you would be blown away.
