Pink Wednesday

Good Morning Babes and Happy Pink Wednesday. Today I have Bettina #9 which is a dusty deep muavey rose toned pink creme polish. #9 has an amazing formula just like all my other Bettina's, and was opaque in 2 thin coats. I used Konad ip M78, special white polish, and SV as my tc. Well this color looks like barf on a stick on my skin tone - FUGLY! It reminds me of the colors little old ladies get their hands and toes painted when they go to the nail shop. Don't get me wrong, the color is pretty just not on my skin tone. Of course I had a stamping fail grrrr not my Konading week.

Do you like #9 and the stamp I chose to use over it? I love pink but this isn't normally a pink I would go for which is why I chose it. Not my favorite but I promised to be completely open minded when I started blogging and to try all colors :o)  Thanks for stopping by!

Bettina Week: #12

Good Morning Babes! Today I have Bettina #12 to share with you today. #12 is an amazing nude creme polish with peach undertones, and very subtle silver micro shimmer that adds just the right touch. I bought this nude because I believe that even if you don't care for nudes (raises hand) you should have a nice little variety of at least 3 perfect nudes (my all time fave is Cruisin Nude). I used 2 coats for the swatches below, BPS ip m60, special black polish, and SV as my tc.

There was a little smudging on my ring finger when I applied SV and a little of the design didn't want to stamp on but we all know how temperamental the stampers can be lol! I pressed down super hard to lol. The 2nd picture has flash. Can you tell that it was getting dark outside by the time I finished my stamping? Ahahaha. Here's a swatch of #12 on its own.

What do you think of #12 and the stamp I chose to go with it? The 2nd picture has flash so that you can see the subtle shimmer becasue it doesn't capture well. I actually really really like this, which I didn't think I would because nudes are touch and go with my skin tone. So I'm adding this to my nudes that I love, its not as flattering as Cruisin Nude by Cult Nails is on me (which I wear alone) but it great in a totally different way. Thanks for stopping by :o)

Bettina Week: Bliss Collection Swatches and Review

Good Morning Babes! Today starts my weekly brand posts that I will be doing in an attempt to swatch through my polish collection that is becoming massive, and to just show some of the brands that I have quite a few of but have yet to swatch many if any at all. What I will be doing is swatching one brand only for 1 week throughout the whole month of December. Up first is the Bliss Collection by Bettina, which is their Holiday 2011 collection that consists of 3 metallics and 3 cremes. I've had this collection since the week it came out but haven't had the time to swatch them until now. This collection was personally purchased by myself. Since I'm posting the whole collection at once, I decided to post it as a review. I chose Bettina first because I have more of her polishes than any other brand. All swatches are done with 2 coats and no tc.

Champagne - a light chocolaty golden bronze with gold micro shimmer. I wouldn't consider this "champagne" because its a bit to dark. Antiquated from Color Club Foiled collection fits that description more accurately. This is one of those metallics that you will have brush strokes even when being very careful. Dry time was good like most Bettina's but this color just isn't right for my skin tone.

Myth - a perfect purple metallic with gold and blue micro glitter. The formula was much better on this one than Champagne. Dry time was very good on this one also. This one is my favorite out of the metallics, but I couldn't capture a picture to do it justice. IRL this color is very beautiful.

Festive - is a green that has gold and green micro shimmer. Dry time was very fast, and the formula was easy to work with. Not really felling this color either.

Truffle - is the prettiest warm chocolate brown that I have ever seen. Just looking at it makes me want to eat a chocolate bar or go to Starbucks and get a Mocha. The first coat was a little on the patchy side but evens out perfectly on coat 2.

Cheers - I can't describe this beauty in other way than the perfect hunter green. The formula is amazing just like all Bettina cremes. This is my favorite out of the whole collection which is shocking because green has never been a favorite of mine.

Bordeaux - when I looked at this burgundy with a hint of maroon creme, I immediately knew that I would have to use my Nubar Foundation Base Coat so that I wouldn't get any stains. Good call because it stained around my cuticles and was a nightmare to clean up. The formula was very runny/watery, and the brush holds a ton of polish. Its not unmanageable but you do want to be very careful around the cuticles.

What are your thoughts on the Bliss Collection? Being completely honest it definitely isn't what I thought it would be and I'm a little disappointed. The cremes are definitely the winners in this collection, but none of the polishes are unique in any way. Bettina is probably one of my favorite brands so I gave this collection a chance (just like the disco, jeans, art deco, resort, candy, and etc), and I will continue to do so in the future, because this has been my only Bettina I haven't been head over heels about and I still like 3 out of the 6. Even though the metallics didn't win me over they will still be great for stamping :o) . Thanks for stopping by to let me share with you.

Dr's Remedy Jolly & Joy Collection Swatches and Review - Cremes/Shimmers

Good Morning Babes! I'm finally back to my regular posting schedule after the hectic holiday week. Today I have the cremes/shimmers and the rest of the collection for you today. I used 1 coat of INM Out The Door as my top coat for swatches in this post.

REVIVE Ruby Red - A shimmer-infused Wizard of Oz-inspired shade of crimson.

Ruby Red is a deep burgundy red metallic polish. I definitely wouldn't call this a "Wizard of Oz" red because its much to dark. The brush was absolutely terrible, it must have been some defect because it was almost as thin as a nail art brush. This is 1 thick coat because I definitely was over this brush. The formula was good but I still had brush strokes that I believe would not have been there had there been a regular brush. Dry time was very good and it dried to a nice glossy finish.

PASSION Purple - A bombshell-boysenberry with subtle silver meshed throughout.

Flash
Passion Purple is a very pretty wine toned purple with purple, blue and red micro glitter. The formula was amazing and was opaque in 2 thin coats. I don't like these deep dark purples but this color is amazing and I absolutely love it which really shocked me. Its a bit darker IRL which is why I called it a wine toned purple. Dry time was also very good on this one.

ESSENTIAL Emerald - A take on the classic tree-and-plant inspired gem of a shade, with delicate glimmer and unparalleled amounts of glamour.

Flash
Emerald aaaahhhh the star of the collection. I LOVE THIS COLOR! The description is very accurate when its described as tree and plant based, because that's exactly how I would describe the tone. In this polish there's green, blue, purple, and silver micro shimmer that really make this polish unique and pop. I used 2 thin coats and it was perfection. The formula is amazing just like the others, and it dried very fast. I will definitely be revisiting this color, such a beautiful green.

What do you think of these 3 beauties? I love Emerald and Purple, they both go well with my skin tone. I don't think that there's anything special about Ruby Red, its a very common red metallic but it is still pretty nonetheless. All in all I would definitely recommend this whole collection, they are all so pretty. Don't forget to like Dr's Remedy on Facebook and follow them on Twitter to stay up to date with new collections and promotions they will be having.

Dr's Remedy Jolly & Joy Collection Swatches and Review - SERENE Silver Glitter

Good Afternoon Babes and I hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday. I had to take the day to myself yesterday to rest up from 2 days of cooking. Today I have another from the 2011 holiday collex from Dr's Remedy.

SERENE Silver Glitter: A seasonal sizzler like no other; shine, chic, totally unique in the metallic scene.

Flash
Silver Glitter has a silver metallic base with red, blue and silver glitter. The formula was really good for a glitter and was opaque in 2 thin coats. Dry time was really fast and I used 2 coats of SV to get a shiny smooth finish. I would make sure to allow dry time in between coats so you don't get any drag.

What do you think of Silver Glitter? I wasn't impressed by it at first glance because silver's don't go well with my skin tone, but I absolutely fell in love with it and its my favorite out of the 2 glitters. Thanks for stopping by and letting me share with you, and I will have the creme/shimmers for you tomorrow. If you haven't liked or following Dr's Remedy on Facebook and Twitter don't forget to do so now so you can stay up to date with what they have going on.

Dr's Remedy Jolly & Joy Collection Swatches and Review - Red Glitter

Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving! Today I have a very pretty polish to share with your from Dr's Remedy holiday collection Jolly & Joy! If you don't know much about D.R. its a line of doctor-inspired cosmetics that is dedicated to using clean, hypo-allergenic ingredients. The polishes are enriched with naturally occurring anti fungal ingredients like tea tree oil, garlic bulb extract, vitamins C and E, and wheat protein. Its free from harsh toxins to promote healthier nails and its the first ever nail polish on the market approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association. Now to show you the beautiful Red Glitter.

RESOLUTION Red Glitter: A red-meets-copper spin that's sequin-look-alike laden with high-shine and sparkle.

In this one you can see where it flashes the copper and the silver. The sun was not really in my favor, this is a day where the sun was a little to bright and the pictures would have shadows from the camera being held over my hand or it would be super bright.

I was really able to capture the silver in this picture. Isn't it gorg?

I love how the copper really flashes at certain angles, it gives it some serious pop.

OK so I tried to make sure that I got good pictures so that you could see all the loveliness that is RRG. In the swatches above I used 2 coats and it was fully opaque. This glitter is definitely not meant for layering, its perfect on its own. The formula is a little on the thick side but not in a bad way, just in a way that you want to give it a little time between coats so that you have no drag. In person it definitely has a metallic/foil-like look to it. To my eyes it doesn't look red at all, more like a dark pink. Dry time was very fast but it dries gritty so you need a good thick top coat, and this polish eats up tc, so I used 2 coats of SV and was good to go. You really want to watch your cuticles because this is one of those glitters that like to hang around and is a pain to clean up.

What do you think of RESOLUTION Red Glitter? At first glance I didn't think it would go well with my skin tone but I absolutely love it and didn't want to take it off! Thanks for stopping by and I will have the rest of the collection up through-out the weekend. If you aren't following Dr's Remedy on Twitter or like their Facebook page do so now, you'll stay up to date on what they have going on, promotions and upcoming collections.

10 Day Challenge: Day 10 - Ombre Nails

Oh My Goodness Babes, we have made it to day 10. I was seriously frustrated on some days but I had a blast through it all. Up today for our last day is Ombre Nails which is basically a gradient that fades on each finger versus on one finger. I had to re-do these twice and they still came out ugly but hey you win some you lose some. I used Bettina Art Deco Aqua and Nature Clouds to do this mani. What I did was I painted my pinkie with ADA and then with each finger I dropped 3 drops, then 6, then 9.... The first time I only did 1-4 but you couldn't see a significant difference in the pictures so I went back and tripled it instead. I really think its just the color I chose, I should have went with a primary color. I'm definitely not giving up on this, I will revisit it until I master it. Well onto the epic fail formerly know as my gradient mani lol.

10 Day Challenge: Day 9 - Favorite Color Combination

Good Morning Babes and welcome to Day 9 of the Challenge! I can't believe that tomorrow is the last day, this was so much fun! My post is a little later today because I wasn't feeling good last night and didn't get around to scheduling this post, so I let it wait until today to do. My color combo is Pink & Chocolate, and I chose those colors because they were my baby Ailani's colors when she was first born. Her bassinet , travel system and tons of clothes were done in these colors and I absolutely loved it! I had all these ideas to do something really fabulous like some of my favorite outfits of hers, but decided in the end on something simple and sweet. I used 2 coats of OPI Sparrow Me the Drama as my base, stamped with Konad ip m78, Bettina Art Deco Brown, and SV as my top coat.

My Challenge Mates:
Carolina - Colores de Carol
Marta - Chit Chat Nails

What do you think of this color combo? I actually really like these simple nails :o) I had to use pictures that all had flash because for some reason the regular natural light ones weren't showing the true color of SMTD. Don't forget to check on my challenge buddies to see what they've done for favorite color combo, nails and to follow their lovely blogs if you aren't already - Carolina, Tera, and Marta. Thanks for stopping by to let me share with you, and see you tomorrow for the final day with Ombre Nails :o)

10 Day Challenge: Day 8 - Favorite Movie or Inspired by a Movie

Good Morning Babes and welcome to Day 8 of challenge. Today is movie nails and I chose something that I have been wanting to do - Breakfast at Tiffany's! When I bought the infamous For Audrey by China Glaze months ago, I already knew that the first time I would use it would be to do a movie inspired mani. However, the mani is nothing like how I envisioned it because my Chez Delaney plates that I ordered and shipped over 3 weeks ago are still not here, so I had to scramble to alter the mani. I started off with 2 coats of For Audrey, sponged Zoya Trixie, then stamped with Bundle Monster ip 212 and Born Pretty Store ip M77, added a few pieces of glitter from Kleancolor Chunky Silver, and topped it off with a coat of SV. What I went with was the fashion part of the movie because I just loved what she wore and her accessories. IRL this mani looks much better. I wasn't able to capture a single good picture of how it really looks out of about 100, but either way I'm still not happy with it because I envisioned something completely different... :O(   Onto the nail fail...

My Challenge Mates:
Carolina - Colores de Carol
Marta - Chit Chat Nails

Below are pictures of the colors that I used, and movie stills (source attached in link) of my inspiration behind each nail. I tried to put them in order for the most part according to my nails. The images are pretty small because when I tried to enlarge them they became blurry.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my movie nails with you. How do you like them? Don't forget to check on my challenge buddies to see what they've done for movie nails and to follow their lovely blogs if you aren't already - Carolina, Tera, and Marta. Oh and I forgot to mention it yesterday but I hit my 2 month mark of blogging!
