Readers Request: Essie Ruby Slippers

Good Afternoon Babes! Today I have a readers request from the lovely Maria from Nails Made Simple. A few of my fellow bloggers and I were talking about polish on Twitter and Ruby Slippers came up. I said that I have it  but haven't swatched it yet. Maria asked if I could so she could see it on a similar skin tone, so of course I said yes because she's such a sweetheart. Essie's Ruby Slippers is an amazing red jelly packed with red, golden copper, and very sparse silver glitter. The golden copper glitter is what gives it that "glow from within" look and a lot of depth. The formula is pretty good for an intense glitter and was fully opaque in 2 easy coats. A little wait time is suggested between coats or you will have some drag going on. Dry time was reasonable, but it does dry a little dull with texture, so a nice thick tc (I used SV) is necessary. RS is very much on the HTF side and is the original Ruby Slippers released. OK enough of the rambling and onto the swatches...

This polish is 10x as amazing in person, and I definitely consider it to be a necessary part of every polish addicts collection! I'm not crazy about red but I love this! The last picture is intentionally blurry so that you can see at least some of the copper that is VERY much there in person. What do you think of Ruby Slippers? Thanks for stopping by :o)

12 Days of Christmas: Red Nails

Good Morning Babes! Today is day the first day of our 12 Day of Christmas Challenge. Its the same ladies in this challenge as the 10 Day Challenge we did last month. Red Nails is what we have going on today, so I took the chance to finally crack open my China Glaze Let It Snow Collection. Poinsetta is my choice of red and OMG am I so happy that I chose this baby. This is my first pure red that I have ever worn on my nails. I wore a metallic red by Bettina, but this color is red red. The formula is am amazing jelly creme hybrid. Don't you just love those types of formulas? I sure do! It took 3 coats to reach opacity but I totally didn't mind because it was super easy to apply and dried very fast.

My Challenge Mates:
Carolina - Colores de Carol
Marta - Chit Chat Nails

Don't you just love Poinsetta?! That's with NO tc, isn't it super glossy?! I'm so in love with this that I had to just admire it, because I sure wasn't about to stamp over it. This is the sexiest red ever and it looks amazing against my skin tone! I'm so glad I have shorties right now, because I really get to enjoy dark colors and look chic. I think on long nails dark colors can be a little touch and go (black and vampy colors like Lincoln Park After Dark) at times. Don't forget to check on my amazing challenge mates Tera, Marta and Carolina to see what they came up with for today's Red Nails. Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for Silver Nails. Thanks for reading :o)

My First Red EVER - Bettina Garnet!

Good Morning Babes! Today I have my first red mani, like EVER. Red has just never been a color that I have cared for, but I figured that hey I'm 27 and I noticed that if the nails are short or not to long its actually sexy! What I have for you today is the first Bettina that I'm cracking open, Garnet from the Metallic Collection. I used two coats but its very pigmented and could have done with one, and the formula is the best I have used to date. Garnet is very dark red, like it maybe has just a splash of burgundy in it with red micro shimmer. I just love the metallic foil like look it has! It dries very fast to a very pretty glass like finish. It drug a little on my middle finger (you can see the slight dent) so I would suggest a little wait time between coats, which isn't much because they dry lightning fast. I topped it off with Seche.

Taken with flash so you can see the micro shimmer.
The micro shimmer isn't gold, but that's just what the flash did. What do you think of Garnet? I LOVE it and think I chose perfectly for my first red mani!

Base Coat: Nubar Foundation Base Coat
Color: Bettina Garnet
Top Coat: Seche Vite
