Pink Wednesday!

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCKKKK LOL! Good Afternoon Babes! Its feels like its been foreverrrrrr! I went to Florida to spend Christmas with my family for a little over 2 weeks and just got back a few days ago. What better day to come back than to a Pink Wednesday? What I'm sharing with you today is Excuse Moi! from the OPI Muppet's Collection. Excuse Moi! has a pink jelly base packed with pink and silver micro glitter, and bigger yellow, pink, green, red, silver and blue glitter. The formula was a tiny bit thick, but not goopy like NOPI Wear Something Spar-Kylie (which I think would be a dupe of EM if you eliminate all the glitter except for pink) which was super goopy. Application was very good on this beauty, and was fully opaque in just 2 coats. Dry time was very good, but it dried a little on the dull and textured side. EM is top coat hungry and required 2 coats of SV to get a smooth shiny finish.

I looooooove this so much! Its special to me because it was my #1 pick from the entire collection, and my sister Jessica bought it for me for Christmas. 12 Days of Christmas: Silver Nails

Good Morning Babes! Today is day 2 of the 12 Days of Christmas challenge and up today is Silver Nails. I used 1 coat of Zoya Trixie and my base, layered on 1 coat of OPI Crown Me Already, and a nice thick coat of SV as my tc. I couldn't resist adding a little bit of glitta to bling out this mani. I actually bought Trixie a while ago because I didn't own a silver, and I wanted a really good one that I could paint and stamp with.

Nfu Oh #52

Good Afternoon Babes! Today I'm finally going to share with you what I bought back in the summer. Nfu Oh #52 is a blurple (blueish purple) jelly with green micro shimmer and flakies. There's so much green going on in there that the bottle looks like it has an beautiful eerie glow. I decided to layer this over OPI Russian Navy which I NEVER wear any way but on its own, but I really wanted to see what it looked like with an interesting blue. I used 2 coats of RN and 1 coat of #52. Its been raining here and has been dark outside all day long for the whole week, so these swatches were the best that I could get with the limited natural light that I had :o(  I will definitely re-visit this in the summer because IRL its AMAZING!

And because it would be a crime to not show you the most fabulous dark blue of all time here's the amazingly beautiful Russian Navy that has graced by toes for the past 2 years for the entire fall and winter, and will do the same again this year :-D

What do you think of #52? I promise babes that it was unbelievable in person, but it was just one of those that I really need so good sunlight to do justice, and I still haven't built my light box yet... OPI Zom-Body To Love

Good Morning Babes and Happy Saturday! Today I have a quick post to show you Zom-Body To Love from OPI's Spookettes Collection of minis. ZBTL is a medium green glow in the dark that's sheer but buildable. In the swatches below I used 3 thin coats, but if I were going to wear it on Halloween I would go for 4 or 5. It dries a little gritty so make sure you use a light top coat if you want a smooth finish.



What do you think about ZBTL? I think its the most wearable glow in the dark, because you can actually wear it on it own if you want and it looks ok. Thanks for stopping by :)

NICKI MINAJ IS GETTING HER VERY OWN OPI COLLECTION!

*GASP* I LOVE NICKI MINAJ! So you can imagine how crazy I'm going that she's getting her own collection with one of my favorite polish brands! I love seeing my sistas doing big things :) . The collection by OPI and is slated to hit shelves in early 2012! Check out what I'm going to get my hands on the very first day! :)

OPI He's My Boo

Good Morning Babes! Today I have OPI He's My Boo for today's mani. Yesterday was just a horrible swatch session, so I threw this on because I couldn't get it right. I will definitely have to make up for that today. He's My Boo is from the Spookettes mini collection, its your regular standard orange tone. This polish is a cream but the formula is very streaky and didn't even out until 3 coats. Dry time was ok but not the best, however it dried to a very glossy finish. I used a pumpkin water decal that came in the set, Nubar 2010 (this polish is thick, try very thin coats) just to see how it would look, Seche, and then I mattified it. It was very thick because I did a lot but I said I would post whether I like it or not because I'm learning as I go, so here's how it came out...

Pink Wednesday Candy Manicure

Good Morning Babes! I wanted to do something cute with a pop for today's Pink Wednesday, so I chose a candy mani that I kept going back to look at over the past couple of months. I finally did it when I realized that I actually have the same exact colors, so for my first I'm going to play it safe and try someone else's before I get creative on my own :) (I have plenty of creams, glitters, and jellies). I saw this idea here on Tara over at Nails in Nippon blog and I immediately fell in love. I used 1 coat of OPI Sparrow Me The Drama, 2 coats of OPI Teenage Dream, 1 coat of OPI Guy Meets Gal-veston, and Seche as my top coat. With base and Seche that's 5 coats, so be patient with drying even with Seche. They jelly definitely seals the deal, but it does look pretty before the jelly :)  Here's how it turned out for me:

 If you look at the originator post you will see that it looks completely different on a different skin tones. Newspaper Print Mani

A while back a saw a really cute mani on YouTube that was really simple, so I made a mental note to revisit it at a later date. Well that date has come for me to give it a try. For my base I used two coats of Skulls and Glossbones by OPI. I LOVE the whole Pirates collection, two easy coats for all, best and easy to manage formula, and they all dry to a glossy finish! OK so for the newspaper print mani you paint your nails and let them dry, dip your finger in rubbing alcohol, and then press a piece of newspaper over your nail for a few seconds and there you have it. You can watch the tutorial video here, Cute Polish has tons of tutorial videos on YouTube, she's AMAZING! The print didn't come out as dark as I wanted, so next time I will hold it a bit longer, and I will also probably use Japanese letters or better print. Here's how it came out:

Purple Passion: A mani for Brittany

One of my best friends Brittany was the biggest supporter of me starting a blog, and even though she doesn't blog she was one of my first followers. Her favorite color is purple and she loves shopping and shoes, so I thought I would do a few purple manicures for her :) . I used OPI's Funky Dunkey as my base color, BM plates 213 and 221, and Konad special polish in black. Here's what I came up with:

Animal print and heels <3 ! I was going to do all leopard print but I had another plate sitting out from doing a failed Halloween stamping and there were shoes on that plate also! VOILA! Funky Dunkey is actually just a tiny bit darker than how it photographed, it was a little hard to capture inside and out today, but its close enough :)

Just to try out my new topcoat I put on INM Northern Lights which is a holo, after Seche Vite of course.

Here's Funky Dunkey with a top coat of INM Out the Door (a thinner version of Seche Vite thats perfect for just wearing colors plain, SUPER FAST dry time). The first coat of Funky Dunkey was really streaky but cleared up and evened out perfectly on the second coat. The brush holds a ton of polish so you will want to remove some first. So what do you think of Brittany's Purple Passion mani? I love how it came out!

Pink Wednesday

For today's Pink Wednesday I used all OPI. My base color is two coats Steady As She Rose, which is a dusty pale baby pink that has a slight grey undertone. The formula was great and easy to paint with. I stamped using Bundle Monster plate 215. First I stamped with I'm Indi-a Mood For Love, then went over it with Sparrow Me the Drama. Sparrow Me the Drama came out much lighter than I anticipated, so it didn't have the exact effect I wanted but it still came out cute.

If you look close you can see the Sparrow Me the Drama scales. Below is Steady As She Rose which I used for the base. It was hard to capture the true color of it today.

OPI Splatter Mani

Before I started blogging I saw a mani that I thought was awesome on Cristina's of Let Them Have Polish blog. Loved the colors she chose because they are my favorites but I wanted to do something different. I was so excited to try a splatter mani, but when I went to chose colors there weren't any that screamed at me. I was able to put together a few colors that I have that I thought would go well together.

I think that it came out pretty good for my first splatter mani. I'm happy with the results and can't wait to try it again.

I started out with two coats of OPI's Black Onyx. This is with no top coat and its so glossy, and it dries at lightning speed.

The first color I splattered was I'm Indi-a Mood For Love (pink), followed by Funky Dunky (purple), and last Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees (grey). I did Suzi last because its a charcoal color and I wanted it to be noticeable and stand out.

You win some, you lose some...

I knew this day would come but I was hoping that it wouldn't happen with one of my favorite colors BLUE! Truth be told blue can be a little touch and go on the nails. In my opinion the shade can either be fab or meant for a kid to wear. That's what happened here with OPI's Teal The Cows Come Home. I bought it at ULTA and it caught my eyes because it has silver micro glitter that you can see in the bottle, and I thought it would have a slight metallic look to it. Fail Mission, that is not the case:

This picture is taken with no flash. If you look at my ring finger you will see a very noticeable brush stroke, there are brush strokes on all my nails but very bad on this one. The application was terrible, the formula was runny, the brush holds a lot of  polish (which isn't always bad, but in this case is), and after 3 coats it still has brush lines and not an even finish. I don't like to put 3 coats on of any polish unless it is to die for and totally worth it, this one wasn't. Here's a few more pictures:

My First Stamp-icure!

I finally sat down to give stamping a try. I was a little nervous at first because I didn't want to mess up and have to redo polish coats and that whole process again. Naturally I would try pink first :)  I painted my nails with OPI's La Paz-itively Hot which is an AMAZING hot pink:

It took 3 thin coats to reach opacity. The formula is easy to work with, and has minimal cleanup. Here's a different view:

I took this picture with a flash so that you could see the blue micro glitter that shimmers on the nails. LOVE IT! Next I wanted to jazz it up so I used Konad image plate M65:

I used Konad black special polish to stamp with. When stamping you have to press the stamper on the plate very firm, and roll it evenly but very firmly on your nail to get an even consistent pattern. I messed up on my thumb nail which was the first nail that I did :(  :

But after that one I learned my lesson and got the hang of it and I love it! You'll see plenty of stamping from me!

Not to shabby for my first stamp-icure!

OPI Crown Me Already!

I just couldn't resist trying this polish as soon as I got home and I am not disappointed! This polish has a clear base with just about every size glitter you can think of:

Bling Blowwwwwwww! LOVE IT! I used 3 coats of Crown Me Already and 2 coats of Seche Vite so that I could get a smooth finish. It was just to good to be true right? Right! I painted my nails yesterday around 4pm and today by 3pm it chipped :( . A plus is that this nail polish dries very fast, and I do mean completely dry in less than 5 minutes after 3 coats. I used Seche for the sole purpose of getting a smooth finish because this polish has a ruff finish to it. I wash my hands A LOT so that might have had something to do with it but I doubt it. The good thing about this polish is that it doesn't need nail polish remover! When it chipped I just put another fingernail under the chip area and went around the edges and it comes off like an acrylic nail but without the damage. Would I use this polish again, absolutely! I would definitely wear this on a night out, but I would paint my nails no more than 3 hours before leaving the house and not the day before or earlier that day.

OPI Blue My Mind

So I was going through some of my old OPI polishes that I bought a while ago, and I stumbled across a beautiful blue that I couldn't beleive I haven't worn yet. I didn't think that it could get any better than OPI's Russian Navy, and Essie's Smooth Sailing but this is added to my top favorite blues. Blue My Mind is a royal blue that is just to die for. It is a very easy paint with, only needing 2 coats and it dries FAST!

Isnt it GORG?! I love how it looks on my skintone! Let me show you a few different angles.

And this is with NO top coat, it just shines so beautifully on its own. I wanted to stretch this beauty for as long as possible, so I decided to try another blue that I recently purchased to layer over it!

This is Kleancolor's Vegas Night. LOVE THIS GLITTER! I tried it on its own but it dries very slow and still doesn't reach opacy after 3-4 coats.

Isn't the glitter amazing?! LOVE IT! It was a very inexpensive buy at Beauty Joint.
